Swire Properties Inc. announced details of a dramatic addition to its Brickell CityCentre project with the unveiling of an 80-story, mixed-used tower at the 700 Brickell Ave. location the developer purchased in July.

The tower will be called One Brickell CityCentre and will be located at the eastern edge of Swire’s massive $1-billion-plus project.
“Our goal is to develop a structure that will be artful in its mix of uses and will advance Brickell Avenue’s stature as Miami’s premier destination,’’ Stephen L. Owens, Swire’s president, said in a statement.
Swire tapped Arquitectonica to design the One Brickell CityCentre tower.
In a statement, Swire said it “intends to work with the City of Miami to have One Brickell CityCentre approved as an extension of the existing Special Area Plan.’’
Phase One of the Brickell CityCentre project already under construction includes a luxury shopping center, two residential towers, an EAST, Miami by Swire Hotels, serviced apartments, Class-A offices, and a wellness center.
In July, Swire won a competitive bid for 700 Brickell, paying just over $64 million for the site, which is the Florida headquarters of Northern Trust Bank. Northern Trust is moving to 600 Brickell as its anchor tenant and will open a branch on the ground floor.
The sellers were Northern Trust Co. and co-trustees of the Marjorie O. Brickell Revocable Trust.
At the time, Owen said: “The site is of great strategic importance for the development of Brickell CityCentre because it provides the project with a critical front door onto Miami’s most significant boulevard.’’
